Google Apps helps Bukwang Pharmaceutical improve work efficiency by 15%

Bukwang Pharmaceutical is headquartered in Seoul, South Korea. The company, founded in 1960, produces and sells more than 100 qualified drugs and products. Bukwang is also involved in the research and development of new drugs. The company has 500 employees in total.

Bukwang faced issues such as limited access and delays in outgoing and incoming emails with their Microsoft Outlook solution. In addition, Outlook failed to fulfil the business requirements of Bukwang in terms of cost, ease of mobile access, security and accessibility of corporate information. The company decided to consider Google Apps as an alternative solution following a recommendation from a Google Apps sales representative, Megazone.

Through the advice of Megazone, information gathered from various Google seminars and strong encouragement from Bukwang’s management, Bukwang switched its server from Microsoft Outlook to Google Apps in September 2012. In spite of the implementation being only six months old, the company has seen many positive results in terms of work efficiency improvements and better collaboration between employees.

"The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bukwang strongly recommended the migration to Google Apps as he is convinced of Google Apps’ effectiveness. In fact, our CEO has been personally conducting Google Apps introduction and training courses for employees," said Ms. Lee Jeong Uk, Managing Director, Product Development Team, Bukwang.

Google Apps helps Bukwang’s employees work more effectively in any environment. Today, employees are able to access their emails and internal documents via their mobile devices, no matter where they are. This has resulted in an improvement of 15% in terms of work efficiency, as employees can now respond to emails even when they are out of the office.

Ms.Lee believes that the shift from a server-based solution to the cloud-based Google Drive solution is enhancing the security of corporate information. "As a pharmaceutical company, we have to comply with rules and regulations and ensure all our documents are securely stored. In this regard, Google Drive has helped to take the security of our information to the next level, and we are able to store and protect all soft copies of our corporate documents on the Drive," said Ms. Lee.

The marketing department also leverages Google Site to disseminate information of relevant pharmaceutical products to the sales team in an efficient and prompt manner. Additionally, Google+ provides an effective outlet to facilitate corporate club social activities among employees, sharing notifications of upcoming employees’ events and creating an engaging platform for employee discussions.

"Our employees enjoy the benefits, especially the increased collaboration from Google+. Google Apps fulfils our business requirements by providing us with a cost-effective solution that enables our employees to work from anywhere. While it has only been six months since the completion of our Google Apps implementation, we find our employees becoming more receptive towards Google Apps," said Ms. Lee
