It was the first company in Brazil to offer Google Chrome devices as part of a managed endpoint service: a high-impact, low-cost way to drive culture change and simplify collaboration.

Perfect partner for transformation

Previously, Safetec directly managed its customers’ IT infrastructures and found that most had ineffective collaboration tools. Many had services with poor service-level agreements (SLAs) or issues sending and receiving messages. Safetec realized its customers were looking for mobile integration and cloud solutions, and knew it could deliver the experiences they wanted using Google technology, such as Google Hangouts Meet video conferencing.

Migrating customers 3x faster

Many businesses looking to transition to cloud-based apps are afraid of encountering extended downtime and lost productivity for end users. Google makes it easy for customers to non-disruptively migrate large amounts of documents and files with AppBridge, a product Safetec learned about at the Google Next 2017 event.

Using AppBridge, Safetec was able to successfully migrate one customer from Microsoft Office 365 to G Suite in only 30 days—a hard deadline set by the customer to avoid additional software licensing fees—with zero disruption to end-user productivity.

“Transferring email, calendar, filters, signatures, and documents in Microsoft SharePoint for 1,000 users with the proper sharing permissions would not have been possible without AppBridge, and would have taken at least three months using other solutions,” says Joaquim Camerino, Head of Cloud Division, Safetec.

In addition to the 67% reduction in migration time, the customer saved R$1 million in software license costs. Following the migration, the customer’s open IT support tickets dropped by 80%. Other customers are reporting similar savings—for example, Safetec helped Brazil’s State of Pernambuco Bill Court reduce its licensing expenses for productivity software by 90% by moving to G Suite, enabling the court to reduce its IT budget.

To help customers with their transition to the cloud, Safetec conducts change management in parallel with the G Suite migration to encourage adoption for all users—not just high-profile stakeholders. Its Customer Experience Management team works closely with customers to modernize business processes and identify areas where some employees may have trouble with the transition. From simple training to transformational workshops on how to improve project management with Google Sheets, develop presentations in Google Slides, or collect data with Google Forms, Safetec is helping customers be productive and get the most out of the new tools.

Safetec is using G Suite to deliver rich features to midsize and enterprise customers. For example, it is helping medical clinics in the Brazilian city of Recife improve efficiency and reduce costs. Instead of printing 2,000-page reports documenting doctors’ services at each clinic, PDF reports are uploaded to Google Drive. Doctors can easily work across multiple clinics, and track patient attendance and history with up-to-date information. In addition, their paychecks are no longer delayed, which improves job satisfaction.

G Suite is also helping Safetec customers break down communication silos and unify their brand messaging with a single place to retrieve the latest marketing content. Previously, customers’ sales teams often had to search for the right marketing materials and request content via email—only to find that decks were outdated, or that the people they had contacted were no longer with the company. Now, all content can be regularly updated and easily accessed on Google Drive.

Safetec is also using Google App Maker to build and deploy custom apps on the same platform that powers G Suite, such as travel and expense reporting with easy-to-read dashboards for customers to improve business decision making.

Simplifying IT for better results

By helping customers transition to a modern, cloud-based toolset, Safetec is simplifying IT for Brazilian businesses. Customers only need a web browser to access all the apps to do their jobs, and security is enhanced because data is stored more securely in the cloud.

The efficient and reliable combination of G Suite and Google Chromebook devices nearly eliminates patching, updating, and IT support requirements for end-user computing. Customers that require archiving and eDiscovery capabilities can easily add them via Google Vault.

“Business leaders love our approach,” says Antonio. “Chromebooks are very fast—executives can start working in six seconds. We see a lot of interest in Google Chromebox for Meetings, given its integration with Google Hangouts Meet, and strong demand for videoconferencing for internal and external collaboration.”
