Pretty good, but it needs support for capture groups. E.g. if you do a regex find like '([\w|])' and replace with making it bold, you can't replace with that capture group (like $1).

A major flaw in Google Docs is the inability to perform find/replace with formatting. This is something we commonly find in other word applications such as Word and Libre Office, but Google Docs is woefully incapable of it. Because that is functionality that is absolutely required for my workflow, I needed an add-on that could have that ability. Advance Find & Replace dies exactly that, and it has made my workflow streamlined. I know that when first installing the add-on it can be off putting that there are only a certain amount of searches/changes one can perform, but that is because this is a paid add-on and that is a trial. For a cheap $5, one can have lifetime access to this add-on, and it's pocket change in the greater scheme of things considering the simple action of being able to do something that we probably take for granted in other word applications. I also found that the developer provided prompt and excellent customer service. I love this add-on, and I'm still in disbelief that Google Docs doesn't have this functionality built-in already!

No advance information about cost regular expression operations not correctly Stupid 15 use limit to learn of "Pro" capabilities. When the first fault is found, why bother to pay $5 bucks to test beyond limit? If one is paying for the product, why does the developer want my email addresses?

Consider the 15 use limit as a trial. You can absolutely test the complete functionality with the add-on within 15 uses. Part of it is you have to know how you want to use the add-on. There is a specific power behind this tool that helps fill in a major gap that Google Docs has. It's all about how you use it.

People like you expect everything to be free in this world. By your words, I can judge your attitude and how stupid rather you are. You have no value for work. I would like to answer your half baked questions, - You have no knowledge of apps script regular expressions, There is an "i" icon in the input Find text box. Read them, if not - No software is 100% accurate, please read - It is clearly mentioned, Pro Features: (15 attempts) in the add-on overview, It is your work to go through the instructions before installation. - Finally about email - this is NOT for spamming - email is for generate a license key. - Moreover Developers do not beg you silly. Its for their hard work they earn some.

I regularly type up songs for a ukulele club in a format that has the chord names in square brackets, in bold and red text. It is tedious to go through a document and put these in, even using copy and paste. This add-on makes it a breeze. I can type chords as [c] for example and then find and replace all to make this an upper case C in red and bold. Will save lots of time. A great add-on.

Exactly what I need it for.

Do you guys not realize that this function is already included in Google Docs? Just hit Ctrl + F and click on the vertical "..." and then you can just Find & Replace whatever you want. No need to download any add-ons.

Actually, it is not. There is a simple Find/Replace, but it is not as invasive as this add-on. In regular non cloud based word applications, the find/replace allows for formatting and style changes (color, font, point, bold, italics). GoogleDocs, as powerful as it is, does not include that for some reason. It takes a very complex script to create that functionality, one of which most users take for granted since we've come to expect that thanks to Word. What this add-on does is create a powerful tool to allow for the finite tweaking of your formatting and text. There's an endless combination of options you can choose, and it will definitely enhance your workflow.

yeah but you can't replace formatting

The introduced feature is only a part of the functionality i.e. to search using regex. This add-on is capable of finding. * bold * italic * underline * strikethrough * normal * subscript * superscript * font name * font size * background color * foreground color * link url - Remove All * Images * Text Links * Tables * Tables but keep text * Paragraphs * Page Breaks * Drawings * List Items * Text * Equations * Text Color * Highlight Color * Line Breaks (new lines)

It works great, but it's not really free, there is a trial period. Only 15 uses. If it's not free, don't claim that it is free.

the clause - Charge users to install in page "We don't yet provide a way to charge users for add-ons, and add-ons can't include ads. However, you can roll your own payment system or call into an existing billing database." does not allow, so primarily that was the only option. May be Google will come up with something new!
