This is a really effective way to record finances without having to do lots of manual typing as it pulls in the transactions from most banks. It is also easy to pull the data back out again into Google Sheets which makes it relatively easy to design bespoke reports from the data to help track finances against a budget for example.
However, once you start having a lot of queries in your Google Sheets or lots of formulas it makes the Google Sheet very slow.
If I were able to have two enahcements they would be: 1) Invent the idea of mirrored books where the account setup in one book is replicated in all mirrored books and transactions up to a certain date are copied across from the master, then you could have a book for a budget (no actuals), a book for a latest view (which includes actuals to a certain date) and a book for actuals. Then you can compare the books in Google Sheets relatively quickly. 2) Also, for budgeting purposes, it would be great to have recurring transactions that recur on any number of weeks or any number of months regularity - at the moment you can only really do this if the transaction recurs every month but some recurring transactions are weekly, fortnightly, quarterly etc.
I also think the support is excellent, individual support and very responsive during the business hours for the Americas (which means from the UK, only in the afternoon). They took the time to have a call with me on the above suggested improvements but I could not convince them to implement them!
