Overview
Docs to Markdown (GD2md-html) converts Google Docs (TM) to simple, readable Markdown or HTML.

This add-on allows you to create documents using the excellent editing and collaborative features of Google Docs, then convert to Markdown or HTML that you can store as text files using a version-control system.

Note that Docs to Markdown marks up the content (headings, paragraphs, lists, code blocks, etc.) but does not preserve colors and styles in text or tables.

See https://github.com/evbacher/gd2md-html/wiki for docs. See https://github.com/evbacher/gd2md-html/ for the source.

Was working fine for over a year until my Google Chrome recently updated. Now I get an doc icon with a sad face whenever I try to use this extension. I can use it with no problem in Safari and my Google Drive there, but not on Chrome. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I couldn't do that on Chrome. Was able to uninstall and reinstall on Safari--again where it works with no problem. It does show up as reinstalled on Chrome, but it still will not work. Kind of ridiculous that an extension for a Google product doesn't work on Google's web browser.

Works as expected. I just wish Google would support Markdown better. This is a good solution if you are working in both Google Docs and Markdown.

This doesn't do what I want it to do. Specifically, when converting docs to HTML, it should convert sequential line breaks to lines ending with <br> code rather than break literally EVERY line up with <p></p> code. It also uses old-style conversions for bold and italics (<strong> and <em>, respectively), which I don't much care for. I'm extremely disappointed – especially since this is so highly rated.

Pasting text straight into a WordPress text editor block is a nightmare, and this extension makes all the hassle of mishandled formatting disappear in literally 3 clicks. 5 stars for functionality, but I would like the option to have "supress top comment" always on by default, turning "literally 3 clicks" into "literally 2 clicks" for me. This extension already makes me lazy, let me revel further in lethargy.

SUPER pumped for not having to edit every single header when moving blog content from gdocs to WordPress. I was jumping through all sorts of hoops and missing formatting here and there. This makes it so much easier 🙌
