Overview
Google Docs don't allow you to automatically insert endnotes while writing. This AddOn converts any footnotes you have into endnotes and adds them to the end of the document in order.

** Important note on usage**
When your endnotes are created, the original footnote references are lost. This means you cannot go back and add footnotes and rerun the Addon. If you need to edit after you create the endnotes (adding footnotes, in particular) you need to revert to a previous version to restore the footnotes.

Recent updates:

v0.5.1 Limit AddOn access to current document only. Privacy details are listed at https://ohheybrian.com/privacy/endnotes.html

v0.5 Images and Drawings are now retained when converting.

v0.4.7 Endnotes now retain formatting.

v0.4 Fixed a problem where the menu wasn't adding the "Run" command.

I love it, saves me a lot of time. Having to convert docs to word- just for end notes then back again plus the loss of formatting- is too much hustle. Lifesaver

The Docs development team should just pay you to come on as a consultant and ideally just hard-code a functional end-note system into Docs or add this functionality to convert from footnotes to endnotes as it seems like standard functionality that you would expect to see in base Google Docs.

Does its job well, but you can strngly feel that this is a patch on top of a Google product - you "compile" your document, in a way, and cannot revert other than by using edit history.

I loved this add on until it stopped working. I click generate, it says the endnotes were generated, and nothing changes...Please fix.

Sorry you've run into a problem. I can't find a specific reason why it wouldn't be working. Would you send an email to brian@ohheybrian.com so we can dig deeper?

It seems really good but for some reason it cuts off half of the citation. Am I just doing something wrong?

There is a bug where line breaks in the footnote itself will not copy correctly. I will release an update this summer to fix the problem.

Hi Brian, are there plans to keep endnotes dynamic? It is a major feature that is broken when converting the footnotes.

I agree. This is something I'm hoping to address this summer with some updates to the program because it's the most-requested update from users.

I'd quite appreciate it if you could improve the application so that it could be run several times upon the same document without loss of citational order. Thanks.

I'd like to do the same, but because the footnotes are actually removed from the document when you run the script, you cannot define the starting index if more are added. It's a technical limitation that I keep an eye on in the event it changes in the future.
