Magic Cell Notifications
Use this add-on to setup email notifications on a Google Sheet when specific cells reach set values.

Install
Overview
This add-on will load a sidebar menu for you and you can then begin to set up notification rules on your Google Sheet. You can add as many rules as you like and the add-on will keep a track of them. You can track single cell references on a worksheet called ‘Notification Rules’ and you now have the option to track across Rows or Columns entirely. You can view these three worksheets and even amend the rules directly on the sheet.

Once the spreadsheet is changed and the values reach the notification rules you have set you will automatically receive an email to inform you. You can also add multiple email addresses to one notification rule simply by separating them by a comma. You can also use Slack notifications instead of emails if you prefer.

Hi, love the add-on, thank you! A question for you though, and maybe I've overlooked something simple. I've set a column notification rule for any change. It works great, but every email notification I receive includes all previous changes as well. Can I set it to only include the newest change made? Thanks in advance!

Yes there is! Just delete the text 'DEFAULT' and type in anything you would like. Many thanks Hywel

The add-on works fine when I manually enter in data, but when my data from ifttt puts in data, it does not trigger an email. Thanks

Is there a way to have a notification stay anchored to a specific value based on the the information on a row and a column, so that if the sheet is sorted that the notification stays attached to the original information? For example: If I have a sheet with "Brandon" in Cell A3 and a function in column B, and I want a notification when Cell B3 = 30 (e.g., Brandon is 30). But if I needed to add more data (e..g, Adam to column A) now Brandon's info would be pushed down to A4, but the notification wouldn't be pushed down. So anytime I add more data I have to redo all the notifications. Is there a way for this not to happen? I hope that made sense.

Hi Jeremy Glad you managed to solve it. You should not need to keep resetting it so not sure what is going on there. If you send me a direct email (notsomagicapps@gmail.com) I can have a look for you if you would like me to. Many thanks Hywel

Good add-on, is it possible to use a cell reference for my equal to value? Also, I would like the ability to change the email addresses sent to by day (another cell reference).

Hi, Great, useful add-on. One question though: in the default email a reference to the changed cell is included. How can I include that in a customized email? Thanks!

Is there a way to get the script to run on copied sheets? I have a template set-up and the script runs great. However, I am creating multiple sheets from the template that I want to automatically run the notification when a box is checked. Currently, it is too time consuming to go into each new sheet and launch the add-on.

I am afraid the script has to be authorised for every new sheet you want to use it on.
