Overview
Use Magic Cell Notifications to monitor cells within your Google Sheet and automatically notify you via email or Slack when pre-set criteria or values are reached. The applications for this add-on are vast and the additional options allow for personalisation and flexibility to meet your needs.

There are 4 different types of monitoring that you can setup using MCN

1. Single cell notifications (Monitor one specific cell)
2. Row (Monitor an entire row)
3. Column (Monitor an entire column)
4. Range (Monitor a specific range of cells)

Each one of these methods allows you to monitors cells using the following criteria:

equal to
greater than
less than
not equal to
changes
contains

When using this add-on you can load a sidebar menu to set up notification rules on your Google Sheet. You can add as many rules as you like and the add-on will keep a track of them on a dedicated worksheet. You can view this worksheet and even amend the rules directly on the sheet.

Once the spreadsheet is changed and the values reach the notification rules you have set you will automatically receive an email/Slack notification to inform you. You can also add multiple email addresses to one notification rule simply by separating them by a comma. If you are using email notifications you can now also add CC and BCC addresses to your notifications easily

MCN runs on 4 occasions, which you can turn on and off using the menu, and these are the triggers of the add-on.

1. Edit (A user edit to the Google Sheet)
2. Form Submission (A linked Google Form is submitted)
3. Hourly (Once per hour)
4. Daily (Once a day)

You can also personalise the email or Slack notifications using your own text and can even use HTML to format and improve the look and layout of your messages. MCN also gives you the ability to insert fields from your Google Sheet directly into the email but please see the user guide for more information on what fields you can insert:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-v-s7V9RKpEorHYlqfzee1USJPUSFnHs7OF33sijqoQ/edit?usp=sharing

Additional features of the add-on include the ability to turn off and deactivate rules from your rule sheets at the click of a button. You can now get MCN to highlight in your worksheets where the latest match or change has taken place. MCN does Slack webhooks and it has been tested and also works with IFTTT (76 characters) and Zapier.

**New updates release (2/8/20) which now give extra email options of No Reply, Reply To and Sender Name**

Hi. Thank you for creating this very useful add-on. Great for project management. It would, of course, be really nice to be able to customize the emails that go out, but perhaps in a future release. I do have one oddity I've encountered. When I have your app installed, i seem to lose my Undo function for the spreadsheet when the app is active. If I uncheck Use In This Document, the Undo function magically returns. When I activate it again, Undo either gets reduced to 1 recovery or stops working completely. The loss of Undo can be seen whether you use Cntrl-Z or select Undo from the edit menu. Any thoughts on this?

Is there a way to get the script to run on copied sheets? I have a template set-up and the script runs great. However, I am creating multiple sheets from the template that I want to automatically run the notification when a box is checked. Currently, it is too time consuming to go into each new sheet and launch the add-on.

I wanted to have notification when specified cell is filled by User response from Jotfrom to spreadsheet is received. I used the conditions when cell is not equal to "0". but even data is received ,notification is not generate and conditions on Notification rules remain Unchanged. It works fine and changes immeditaley data is entered directly into sheet but not when response is received. Documentation doesn't come up and I got no alerts. Since I couldn't see the documentation I don't know if I set it up correctly, specifically the cell to check. How do I enter a range?

Hi Hywel, Your app is amazing, exactly what I was looking for. However, I too face the same problem that Hamza had. It worked only the first time a condition is met, second time if condition is met but values are different then mail is not being sent. Is there any workaround with this. Thanks! Giya

The add-on works fine when I manually enter in data, but when my data from ifttt puts in data, it does not trigger an email. Thanks

Is there a way to get a notification when a cell goes from blank to filled? I am looking to email a list of people when a specific cell has text input, so I can't use the "greater than" or "not equal to" functions.

Hi, I was just wondering if it is possible to set variables in the email going out? I have set a rule that if Column C == "Done" an email will be sent, and so for everything works great. But I would like to also send the value from column D, E and F from the same row as where Column C == "Done" Can that be done, it would be really great since I can then access and download reports uploaded to Google Drive (URL is in Col D) with just one click from the email.
