Overview
UPDATED v49:
--Fixed problem when loading fonts with whitespace in the name
--Added new fonts: Aladin, Cairo, Audiowave

Let me know what you think about the add-on and your feature requests in the comments bellow.

Paragraph Styles+ provides a visual interface to control the appearance of your Headings. It also enables three new formatting options: Insert Page break before a Heading, to have a paragraph all in CAPITALS, and how to number your Headings!

PS+ also allows you to create up to 6 Custom Styles, apply them to your paragraphs and then update their formatting all at once.

When you have created the perfect set of styles, make them your default and they will be used when creating new files and can be imported into existing files too.

*The add-on is in the early days, and some things are not yet supported. Please refer to our documentation for more datails: http://goo.gl/RyM6tM*

Pretty good for an add-on. The limit of just 6 styles seems reasonable for the smaller types of documents typical of Google Docs, though I wonder why the limit? Some of the problems mentioned in other reviews (such as changing capitalisation) seem to have been fixed. The add-on runs a tad slow, but tolerably so — certainly much faster than manually changing paragraphs! The add-on needs a couple more options. In particular: • Text colour. I would love to see this important missing feature added. • The add-on provides some new fonts, which is nice, but bizarrely it doesn't support all of the fonts built into Docs. Adding the missing standard fonts would help. Thank you to the developer.

Horrible. Spent 30 minutes trying to create a custom style and it never shows up in the UI. Completely Unintuitive

The add-on seems to work well. I am hoping to address an gDocs styles oversight, no APA style options. ** One, surprisingly, missing feature is the ability to add paragraph indents. Please consider adding this.

I wish we could add Styles by using the selected text. This would making styles and adding them much easier. Also we need more fonts or be a able load more like Docs can do. Another one is custom line-height, this cant be set now.

Since this is the only paragraph style formatter that I could find that lets you do numbered paragraphs I use this all the time. That said, there are a few problems that I've noted. The worst thing is that it reformats your text in a header. It SHOULD do this when you turn on "all caps", but when you don't it should leave things along. E.g. I have a paragraph called "REST API". This becomes "Rest api" when the style is applied. Also I have "ssh", which becomes "Ssh" when the style is applied. There appears to be no way to override this default text style, which is right in an English paper, but wrong in a technical document filled with acronyms.

I wanted to update all the paragraphs with a custom style when I changed that style. "Update doc" then went through and added heading numbering to all my headings, with no way that I can find to remove it. I need a number of custom formats, but limited to only 6. The additional panel required takes up too much space on my screen, but even then the overall size of the panel is not big enough, when everything's expanded I can't see all options. I also want to include borders and shading, but can't, as they aren't included.

For anyone else wanting to know how to delete the heading numbers, just found out by accident they are just text in the doc. But if you remove them all, then update the headings again, they all come back all over again...

I used this pretty extensively and while at first I thought it was pretty close to what I wanted, the more I worked with it the more gaps and issues I found. Ultimately I am uninstalling it and waiting until someone else can create a more fully featured tool. Below are the gaps and Issues I encountered. 1. Style Formatting does not include options for including Borders and Shading settings in the style 2. Application of paragraph styles is VERY SLOW. Especially if you try to apply a style to more than one paragraph at a time. Usually taking upwards of 30 seconds each time I try to apply the style 3. Slowness increases with the document size. This one is not 100% on this addon since the docs I am working in are a bit more beefy (30-100 pages), but it did seem that in larger documents this app became almost unresponsive. 4. I found at times it would apply a paragraph style to sections of text I did not specify. This resulted in me having to go through an painstakingly (and slowly in case you missed 2 and 3) reformat text. 5. It changes capitalization of words. If you have a word that is in all upper case at the start of a sentence... "USA is great!" When you apply a paragraph style to it, it changes it to "Usa is great!" All in all it was okay, but just not fully featured enough to be the solution it appeared to be on the surface. Hopefully it gets better in the future, or Google notices the importance of being able to add custom styles and adds in the functionality themselves.

i created a new style to format my footnote text and it takes a full 20 seconds to apply (times,8,justify,left indent). AND, since when do we measure left/right/indent in points? it's cm's or inches mate!

is it possible to see which custom style was applied when you select a paragraph? Now Docs just insists it's the built-in normal style.

Not impressed. I made a document with some styles and this tool, but when I open up the document again, the styles have gone and the Header styles have reset back to Arial! Every time I start the tool, I need to reset the styles! Is this SERIOUSLY how Google expect us to use Google Docs, where EVERY TIME I use the Paragraph Styles tool, I need to put back the settings????? Why aren't my styles saved in the document and Paragraph Styles+ reading them before resetting them? Not impressed. Makes me feel homesick for MS Office (even 2013)!
