Overview
Create and maintain UML diagrams in your Google Docs and Slides. The diagrams are drawn by PlantUML, a text-based UML diagramming tool, and inserted into your Google Docs as images. You don't need to spend time with the layout of your diagram; PlantUML takes care of that thanks to Graphviz algorithms. The PlantUML source text is encoded within the link of the image in Google Docs, so you can edit it later and re-insert the diagram using PlantUML Gizmo. There are some sample diagrams in PlantUML Gizmo to help you get started.

This is an attempt to include PlantUML in Docs and Slides... However no editor is included and it does not allow one to save the .plantuml files on Google Drive, and refer to those from within the Docs and Slides apps. The editor used is PlanyUML org, which is fine - IF it allowed to save the source to Google Drive. All in all, it's useful if your're in a hurry, but not smart if you want to reuse your PlantUML source.

I'd like to use, but it may not be functional for the latest Google Docs. The "Edit Settings" is not functioning, so you cannot add the PlantUML server. There were also errors about authorization. If I can get some help/clarification I'll try it again.

I tried to create a UML class diagram but this tool seems limited to a single row and I quickly ended up with an unusable, very wide diagram. It's a nice idea, but perhaps only for very simple diagrams

I've been using this for an hour and so far it seems quite good. One observation: the panel can be too narrow for wider diagrams such as sequence diagrams with many lanes. It'd be nice to have the width of the side panel be adjustable.

I haven't used this add-on extensively yet, but I've used PlantUML in other contexts for years to produce graphs. I'm thrilled that I can do it conveniently from within Docs now and expect this will save me a lot of time.

Good work! Can of course be improved but it's already useful.

Very useful add-on. Actually, I was waiting for it :) just as an improvement, it would be better to have plantuml code embedded in the document itself not in a side window and of course it would be hidden by default

Thanks for your feedback. Indeed, I had tried a few prototypes with this kind of approach. Within the limitations of the Add-ons API, I wasn't able to make it easy and intuitive to synchronize the in-document source and the image. The approach with the sidebar is the one that Google approved (Google has the final word to approve the useability of the add-ons).
