If bringing your spreadsheets to order in the shortest time possible is your goal, Power Tools is a must-have. It cuts the clicks on repeated tasks and enhances your Google Sheets with features that organize and unify your data.

Among its add-ons you'll find those that remove duplicates, compare and vlookup sheets, import ranges from multiple sheets, merge cells, find and replace data, sum and count colored cells, generate numbers and other records. Text toolkit utilities are also included and let you change case, add and remove strings and characters, trim whitespaces, and split text to columns.

All the tools are divided into 10 different groups based on their main purpose:

    4. Separate names by name units

➎ Process data with one-step tools:
- V-lookup multiple matches based on multiple criteria

Power Tools keeps the history of the recent operations at hand so you could quickly re-apply actions to a different range. You can also favor the most frequent features to have access to them at any time.
Or save the entire sets of options to find duplicates or merge two tables in a click.

What's new?
We introduced yearly subscriptions, you can still enjoy a fully-functional trial version of the add-on for 30 days.

New features:
- Multiple VLOOKUP Matches. Do a quick vlookup across multiple columns and find all matches from all directions based on numerous criteria.
- Consolidate Sheets. Summarize records from several spreadsheets based on their position or common headers.
- Quick Dedupe. This one-step tool will instantly find and eliminate duplicates in your table. It colors and deletes, copies and moves dupes to a new sheet, as well as marks them in a status column.
- Split Sheet. Split one table into multiple sheets by columns.
- Merge Sheets: you can not only update your existing main table but also merge tables in a new spreadsheet.
- Auto-start is now available. Pin the button at the very bottom of the add-on and it will run automatically in each spreadsheet.

- UX: the tool auto-detects the range to process better now. It highlights only the table where your cursor stands rather than an entire used range.
- UI changes: text hints are replaced with images – schemes that show how settings work. Each option has an "i" button next to its name. Click on it to open a related scheme within the add-on.
- Some tools changed places:
    1. The Text group now contains all add-ons for text editing: the former 'Text' utilities (Change case, Replace, Polish text) are now part of the 'Modify' group. 'Add' now has its own icon next to 'Remove'. 'Split' and 'Split Names' can also be found in the Text group.
    2. The Split group still has 'Split Text' and 'Split Names' in it. One more add-on is coming soon: Split Date & Time.
    3. The Process group will handle your data with new Multiple VLOOKUP Matches and well-known Function by Color and Advanced Find & Replace.
    4. Remove blank rows and columns is now in Smart Toolbar as well as in the Clear group.
    5. Unpivot is still in Smart Toolbar – click the icon with three dots to find it.
- Combine Rows is now called Combine Duplicate Rows.
- Combine Duplicate Rows: use the Alt+Enter key combo to get a Line break as a delimiter.
- Combine Sheets: warns if you're trying to paste the result to a protected range.
- Function by Color: all locales are now supported.
- All tools warn you if your result would exceed the Google Sheets limit for 5M cells.
- How do you like the new Ablebits logo? ;) Other footer icons have also been updated.

- Combine Sheets: didn't process 1-column ranges.
- Combine Duplicate Rows: COUNT didn't work correctly with duplicate records.
- Combine Duplicate Rows: MODE and STDEV(P) returned the contents of unique cells.
- Combine Duplicate Rows: didn't work with certain data types: accounting, currency, percentage.
- Combine Duplicate Rows: numbers turned to dates when separated by a space.
- Convert: didn't save user settings.
- AutoSum: COUNTA processed numbers only.
- Split Name: determined some name units incorrectly.
- Advanced Find & Replace: couldn't replace on sheets named with numbers only.

New features:
- Find duplicate or unique cells. You can find and process duplicate or unique cells within the selected range. Look for the feature “Remove duplicate cells” in the “Dedupe & Compare” group.
- Unpivot table.
- Find and replace: new type to look in — Errors. Now you can perform a search in errors.
- Text: Polish text. A single click and the add-on will delete extra spaces, add spaces after punctuation marks, and apply “Sentence case.” for all cells with text within the selected range.

- Range selector UX. If you had a slow Internet connection or server response, you could get an incorrect range. We've significantly reduced that possibility.
- UX. The add-on will offer the most possible actions and warn about possible mistakes and lags. Special thanks to Chris Cobian for the idea about the default "Add to the end" action for unique columns in Merge Sheets.
- Performance. The new version of the add-on processes colored cells faster.
- Small screens and minor issues UIs.
- UI for 4K monitors.

- Combine rows: the add-on was freezing without the data.
- Combine sheets: modifying date format after combining.
- Combine sheets: The message "The entered range is incorrect" kept showing even after the range was corrected.
- Find and replace: the add-on didn't find links to the range.
- Find and replace: if you were looking for hyperlinks only, the add-on showed cells with formulas too.
- Merge sheets: processing cells with dates.
- Flip: processed only top and bottom rows.
- Text: replacing “ß", it is now replaced with “ss”.
- Shuffle: was losing links.

I use google sheets for most things but complicated formulae do my head in. I have been so thrilled to find Power Tools by Ablebits as it has made life so much easier and SO much faster. It's very user friendly. Comparisons within a worksheet or even between spreadsheets are simple. It more or less eliminates the need for writing formulae. Their customer service is excellent and they were nice enough to extend my trial for another 7 days as I hadn't had enough of a chance to use it. Very happy indeed and only to pleased to recommend Power Tools.

I've installed this but I don't have an add-in button to launch it? How else can I launch the power tool add-in without the add-in button on my menu or under my help button?

Sometimes when you're trying to run the add-on, the only option you can see in the drop-down menu is Help. This is caused by Google internal problems. Reload the spreadsheet a few times and the option to run the tool will appear. For further support requests please email us directly - support[at]ablebits[dot]com

This app has been a lifesaver by making it easier for our staff to track student progress while remote learning during the coronavirus lockdown. None of us are heavy spreadsheet users; the app has made the transition to unconventional means of tracking, summarizing, and reporting much easier!

has turned into a scam -- i only need one feature, and when i try to use the free version, keep getting a message that i can only use it once per day, and i have already used it, then tries to force me into subscribing... very frustrating and dishonest

Hello and thank you for your feedback. As the description states, the add-on offers a 30-day trial only. Once it expires, you can use Power Tools only once a day or order a yearly or lifetime subscription, both with a one-time payment. Lots of features are available separately from the collection and cost less. If you specify which one you need, we'll be able to suggest if it's available individually.

This is a great app that has worked out great for the tasks I need it to complete. Unfortunately, the app is no longer Free, like when I downloaded it many months ago. Instead, it cost $30 a month or $90 for life. What kind of schnanagins are the developers trying to pull?! Yes I would recommend the app, but only if you are willing to pay $90 up front.

Hello there, Thank you for your feedback. There are no monthly charges actually. $29.95 for a yearly subscription is a one-time payment (which is $2.50 a month). $89.95 is also a one-time payment for a lifetime subscription.

This came recommended but doesn't seem to work. Opens an empty menu.

Hello, Sorry to hear you've encountered difficulties. If you mean you see only Help in Add-ons > Power Tools, you just need to reload the spreadsheet a couple of times. If you see an empty add-on pane, most likely your browser extensions block the contents. We'll be happy to help you resolve this if you email us to support[at]ablebits[dot]com with the screenshot of the problem. Thank you.

It works when it feels like it; makes it difficult when you use Power Tools for data analysis.
