Overview
Revise your writing with precision and power using Writing Reviser add-on, free from Curriculum Pathways.

From Curriculum Pathways, the Writing Reviser add-on is a free suite of tools that provides guidance and support throughout the revision process. Using artificial intelligence, we analyze the student’s own writing—not generic examples—and we teach students the principles of effective writing rather than simply correcting their papers.

This add-on offers students feedback and enables them to address a range of problems, including weak verbs and faulty sentence structure. By learning to ask questions experienced writers ask automatically, students begin to express themselves with greater precision and power.

This is SOOOOO amazing, an absolute lifesaver when writing an essay for school. While people had to get corrections by teachers & their peers for mistakes within their essays, I could rest assured that my essay could not get any better.

Yes sweet child I have come to the conclusion that the SAS writing reviser is something I barely use but when I do it's somewhat useful. Shrek prevails Shrek inhales. Fin.

I think it is a valuabe resource. It accesses resources that it probably doesn't need but I don't think it is actually using it. My only practical gripe is that it deletes the highlights already on the paper. This isn't really SAS's fault though because google docs does not provide any other way to do this.

Invades user privacy to a degree of superfluity. When you add it, you give permission for it to "view and manage your Google Docs documents, display and run third-party web content in prompts and sidebars inside Google applications, allow this application to run when you are not present, connect to an external service, create new documents, view and modify existing documents, and share documents of others." This means ALL documents in your Google Drive. For student accounts, this can be a violation of not only student privacy, but FERPA laws. SAS Writing Reviser can, in essence, create a new document on your Google account, in your name, and share it as you. I will consider increasing the rating when the developer significantly restricts what the app does within user accounts.

How would it correct spelling if it couldn't edit your documents? Do you have any proof of misconduct? This anger seems missplaced.

Has any of this been addressed?

Your information was helpful. There is a law in New Hampshire HB1612 that is very specific about student privacy. Thanks

Love it! I love that students can use the tool to examine their OWN writing critically - not just to examine sample passages. This tool makes feedback meaningful by working on students' own writing samples.

This add-on helps you learn to write effectively. There is a massive downside though that half the functions can not handle large portions of text. I am often having to run my work one page at a time. Just today I had to split one page into halves to get the "Passive Voice" function to work. If they can get it to function better for larger blocks of text, then it would be a very useful tool. EDIT: Playing around with it, I keep finding paragraphs that cause it to stall when processing. I am unsure what the paragraphs contain that does this. Long story short: Bugs happen. :)
