Overview
The Screenplay Formatter is a tool that adds the capability of formatting your document files to meet screenplay standards.
This app features basic script formatting functions (such as setting your indents for speakers and dialog) tied into easy to use buttons. Each button will assist you as you switch effortlessly between scenes and action, as well as speakers and dialog. The screenplay formatting tool also includes the basic scene transitions to help save time.

The App will always check your current selection, or cursor location, to decide if you are creating something new, or reformatting something old. If you have text selected, it will adjust the indents of that paragraph to the new format and if the format requires uppercase, it will automatically convert it for you. If you don't, it will ask you what you want to add and insert it directly into the script.

The features the Screenplay Formatter add are; adding Headers, setting Action text, setting a new Speaker, adding Parenthesis to dialog, setting Dialog text, setting New Characters, setting Special Effects, and inserting pre-made transitions.

It's nice, but it would be a lot better if there were shortcuts.

Does not work. Format and margins are incorrect for screenplay standard.

I really like this add on, I just wish it was a little easier to use at a faster pace. I'd really prefer the buttons alter the text and format automatically, rather than enter what I want written into a box and have it appear in the document after. But otherwise, solid add-on that I use frequently for formatting what I write. Looking forward to any changes.

If this is in development. It would be really awesome if there would be a filter to filter out specific text. Maybe filter out text with specific format and remove the gaps. Use case - inline commenting and shotlist between the script. Filter out the shotlist and the same text can be copied to a prompter without useless information for the reader.

The buttons for automatically adjusting the margins (Header, Speaker, Action, etc.) have a habit of sometimes just not working. I'll get an error pop-up box, and the problem usually remedies itself after closing the pop-up and trying the given button again. I've used this add-on for well over 3 years, including 2 and a half years of film school. It formats perfectly and is a great alternative to more complex (if perhaps more intuitive and comprehensive) screenwriting software if you're not too software-minded like me. This add-on is what I always recommend people who ask for a good, free way of screenwriting. Couple of niggles that need to be ironed out, but nothing massively frustrating or worth uninstalling. It's ultimately still a very useful, simple and ridiculously easy-to-understand tool for screenwriting.

It's not Final Draft but still very helpful in a pinch. Question :: When formatting a document into a screenplay format, the "speaker" button prompts a popup. Is there a way to turn this off so that it simply indents the character name without the popup? Suggestion :: Change "Speaker" to "Character".

This isn't ideal, I know, but tapping 'escape' after I click on one of the formatting buttons to just write on a given indent has become second nature to me, and after a while you'll get used to it and not even notice the pop-up. I wish there was a formal option to remove them, though.
