The absolute worst add-on. It should be a simple thing to have paragraph marks and dots for spaces so I can see where any extra spaces or formatting may be, but this add-on doesn't actually help with that because it doesn't allow word wrap to function properly. DON'T BOTHER DOWNLOADING. COMPLETELY USELESS.

Well, it does show the formatting characters. But it works by adding them into the text of your document. This has some side effects: it confuses the spell checker, and if you uninstall the Show add-on without hiding the formatting characters first, your document remains full of junk like "¶". This is probably Google's fault for not having a proper API, but it's still annoying.

I see lots of people are having an issue like me that when you open a new google doc and try to use Show add-on it just shows the 'Help Option'. If you click on Manage add-ons and go to Show and click on it there is the hamburger...The 3 dots on top of each other on the right of the add-on page. Click on that and you will have a n option to 'Use on this document'.click on this option and give it a couple of seconds then refresh your screen and all the options are there when you click on 'Show' under Add-ons. This helps.

This addon would be a whole lot better if it actually consistently worked. For some reason, all functionality of the addon (excluding "Help") disappears from the dropdown on other documents. What I mean is, it will work if I install it and use it on the document I installed it from, but if I work on a new document the functionality disappears. So I'd definitely love it a lot more if it didn't do this.

what happened? it was working when I first installed it and now it is not working. Anyone else having this issue? Why doesn't Google just have this feature stock?

I'm having the exact same issue. I bet it has something to do with an update from Google or something messing with the addon's functionality. But yeah, it only works when initially installed, and then you have to reinstall for it to work again. Kinda sucks.

I find this add-on works just fine. After editing a doc, I refresh the web page the doc is on and everything updates correctly: Docs menu system and the current open Doc. The sad fact is, MS Word for DOS had this feature built-in way back in the early 1980s. Google, get with it!

It just doesn't work!! I see 'Show', I see a green tick, I even see 'Uninstall' but no formating marks!!!!!!!! I see comments from others that it is VERY buggy. I totally agree with many comments that this should be a basic function of Docs just like Word. - I will have to go back to Word - Pity!

Found something odd. Show was already installed but did nothing. Uninstalled it, shut down chrome and restarted that and installed 'Show' again. Now it works!!!!!!! Also menu of choices now shown which were not there before. It seems there has been an important update which did not come through in the normal way. (Can't change the stars!!)
