Overview
***NOTE: Google is aware of, and is working to address, an issue which is preventing GSuite administrators from installing Gmail Add-Ons, including the Smartsheet for Gmail Add-On. *** Keep track of important emails and ensure pertinent information is accessible to stakeholders in the context of the work you’re doing with the Smartsheet for Gmail Add-on. Now you can add emails and attachments directly to a specific row in a sheet without leaving Gmail, enabling you and your team to quickly find approvals and other crucial emails for easy reference. You can also import Google contacts from Gmail to Smartsheet to easily share projects.

Key Features:

• Give emails context - Add an entire email as a comment directly to a specific row in a sheet.

• Organize email attachments - Add some or all email attachments to a specific row in Smartsheet.

• Create new rows from Gmail - Create new rows in Smartsheet from Gmail to add emails and attachments as needed.

Once you've installed the add-on, open an email in Gmail to use it. Desktop users will find it on the right side of the window when viewing an email, and mobile users will see it at the bottom of an email.

We have received reports that some Chrome browser extensions (e.g., Rapportive, YesWare) do not yet auto-detect Gmail Add-Ons and may cover up the right portion of the window including the Add-On panel for desktop users. If you experience this issue, it may be possible to disable elements of the Chrome extension which cover up the Add-On; however, we advise that you notify the Chrome extension’s developer so they can correct the issue. Contact information for a Chrome extension developer can be found on the extension's listing page in the Chrome Web Store.

Was great while it worked... Installed it and it worked flawlessly for about a week and a half. Now the panel to the left of gmail doesn't show, sometimes it acts like it's gonna pop up and I can see the SmartSheet Check Logo but then disappears.

After installing the add on, I do not see any panels whatsoever. When I looked under the Add On tab in my Gmail settings, there are no add ons installed.

It has been 3 weeks! When will this problem be corrected? ***NOTE: Google is aware of, and is working to address, an issue which is preventing GSuite administrators from installing Gmail Add-Ons, including the Smartsheet for Gmail Add-On.

Is anyone experiencing crash issues on Android Gmail apps after installing this? It seems to crash sporadically when forwarding, replying, and trying to open attachments. I'm looking for a solution before I have to begin uninstalling this add-on

The "INSTALL" button does not work. How can I enable the Gmail Add-On please?

Hi Damon - I appreciate you installing the Add-on and hope to better understand your challenge. When you click into an email within Gmail, does the Smartsheet logo show up on the right? We have heard reports of users with other Chrome Extensions that may block the sidebar as well. I hope we can better clarify your experience so you can leverage this integration to improve your workflow like so many others have! Thank you!

Not ready for Prime Time. messes up screen formatting on Chrome. Only copies top level email of a string.

I am looking forward to this actually working for domain based users (hmmm, that would probably be the vast majority I presume for this?). In the mean time, I guess I will continue to have to use my work around, which is this: 1) add Evernote clipper to Chrome browser, 2) create an Evernote Workbook for each Sheet you want to post emails and create a new row 3) use the Smartsheet labs to create a sync between Smartsheet and Evernote, and map the attributes you want; add a column for the Evernote Share URL to be added to. To use this, with my email open, I use Evernote Web Clipper to post the contents to an Evernote note, by selecting the Evernote Workbook. The SS/Evernote sync also posts this as a new row; the URL containing the information is added, while any attachments get automatically added as attachments to the row. Yeah, the sooner you guys get this direct integration rolling, the better.

Thanks for the feedback Mark. I'd like to understand a bit more about the screen formatting issue in Chrome. Do you know if you have any Chrome Extensions installed? We've received reports of Chrome Extensions not detecting the presence of Gmail add-ons (and covering the add-on panel). Also, regarding which emails in a thread are copied - the Smartsheet for Gmail add-on is designed to include the selected email and any which precede it in the thread. I just tested that functionality and found it to work for me this morning. If you're seeing different behavior I'd be grateful for more details via the Give Feedback link in the add-on (click on the button that looks like a vertical ellipsis in the upper right corner of the add-on and select bottom option in the dropdown). Thanks again!

This is a great addition to Smartsheet! We all know how hard it can be (and time consuming!) to have to find a particular email that relates to something on a project. Now, with this add-on, you can attach that email directly to the pertinent Smartsheet row and - presto! - you never have to hunt for it again! This is especially helpful if the email contained a decision that was needed by the team. Team members can go and read the email to get the information they need. And, if you properly configure automatic notifications, everyone will be notified when the email is added. Thanks, Smartsheet and Google!
