Service was okay while it lasted. Their support is utterly atrocious and they charged us after we cancelled down the service (in writing). They are now not responding.

Unfortunately, Spanning Backup has not seen any further development in the last two years. The user interface and the UX is a disaster. The backup of the data itself works, but when you search for data, you need a lot of time and a lot of patience. A complete export of the data is factually not possible. A single mailbox with 20GB of data took a week to export. After we cancelled, it was claimed that the contract would continue for another year, although contractually something else was agreed.

Okay, just a warning if you want to use the backup services of Spanning. So if you are a system administrator that's looking for a reliable backup solution, I advise you to read this. I have currently an active payed subscription for G Suite for backup. A subscription that provides a backup service for a "unlimited storage" service from our Google environment. They profiled themselves as leading provider of SaaS data protection. Current situation: they removed all my data without notice. I noticed this when logged in into the Spanning dashboard. They profiled themselves as "most trusted cloud-to-cloud backup solution". Current situation: they currently don't backup our data. Also without any notice. A few months ago (end of October) we received an "Excessive Use Notice" from Spanning, with the description that we statement that we: A) need to address this within 5 working days (good luck with multiple terabytes of data) B) We could contact Sales We did A and B. Removed almost half of all our data and contacted sales department the same day. Never heart anything back. Hmmm. Should be good, right? We removed A LOT of data, so we must now meet the current unwritten requirements. Beginning of December: I logged in into the Spanning dashboard: No active backup No data Still active subscription (as it was payed in advance) Contacted Spanning, and in the end: we don't have any data anymore, we removed everything. Conclusion: I removed half of the data for nothing. Refund? No man, we can bill you for $5K, so be happy. You don't get a refund. And now sales is not replying anymore. They just don't care. This company is a reason why the one-star option exist in reviews. This all could be avoided when they written a clear limit of the cloud-backup storage capacity. But no, marketing and sales are more important.

I'd recommend Spanning because it not only protects our G Suite data, we can can also manage easily our team + departing members. It really is a significant safety improvement. The only limit I found is their customer support + e.g. payment by card only possible by phone...

I used to find Spanning reliable until the last year or so, since then I've had nothing but issues without support being able to resolve. Support typically provides a cut and copy response passing it on to an account manager who never responds. then closes the case without resolution. As a customer you have no say. I would recommend any alternative.

We've been with Spanning since 2015. There product was okayish, but their inability to reduce the number of licenses without going through support and charging for autorenewal a month before the renewal date without even the slightest announcement has been annoying for years. Until last year you at least could get support, even though it was difficult. This year all of the support staff appears to have been replaced with automated systems that pretend to be actual people and keep sending the same automated responses no matter what the question is. We stopped the renewal process and have moved somewhere else.

I've been a customer of Spanning since 2013. It has saved my bacon twice in that time. Unfortunately, it's changes hands a few times, and the support is now terrible. I paid a yearly renewal for 55 users 1 April (autorenewal), but by 13 May, I was getting sent incorrect 30 day overdue emails threatening to disable my service. This issue is still ongoing, with some of their systems showing paid, others not. I could lose service at any time. I've been given names of over 6 people in my support tickets, but noone is stepping up to resolve my issue, I have to chase them. There are plenty of other options out there these days. I'd recommend looking elsewhere.

I've been using Spanning Backup for about 1 year now, and so far so good! The interface is straightforward and the price is reasonable for my small company. I setup weekly automated backup reports to be sent to my email, where I can keep an eye out for issues or anomalies. I would definitely recommend this backup solution to other GSuite users.

My favorite feature of Spanning Backup for G Suite is its simplicity. Although simple to implement and use the service provides exactly what is needed for my business. Most of all peace of mind knowing that I have a redundant backup of my data. Would recommend to anyone looking for an effective and cost efficient backup service.
