Its not much different than inserting the TOC in the document itself at the beginning using Styles... The huge missing piece is adding page numbers in the TOC in the document, so when printed or PDf'd the receiver can see where the headings actually are.. Now that would be a game changer and worth paying for!!

Great idea, would be useful but it is Very very slow clicking on the hyperlinks in the sidebar TOC to moving to the document position. And it shouldn't be as the main TOC at the top of the document works very quickly.

Has some great features (TOC items only above a certain heading level, single-click links), but it is so incredibly slow it's pretty much unusable.

I love the idea, despair the product. It takes about thirty seconds for it to load every time (which is far too long in this techno-age). Clicking on a title or subtitle to bring you to that point is also similarly glacial. I still use it, and have it applied to certain documents always because it is useful, but it needs a lot of work for proper speeds.

I give it a generous '2' for its potential. I really wanted this to work for a current project. I only thought to myself how awesome this would actually be 2 days ago...I was surprised to see it implemented all of a sudden. I can't even manage to open it again. It also doesn't find my headings... thumbs down. :(

Could use some improvements but all-in-all provides much-needed functionality to Docs. As mentioned by others: - Lag in navigating-- huge issue. Google's built-in Table of Contents works instantly even for long documents. - Having the numbers format physically change the actual text of all the headers is unnecessary and performs slowly. A better choice would be to edit this text in the sidebar only. - Accordion-style buttons to show/hide sub-headings under main headings would be nice. - The ability to print out the list as an alternative to Google's Table of contents, which could allow for adding page numbers and different formatting.

Great capability, as it does not require the native ToC to be inserted. A bit slow for large documents though.

I was hoping this app would help me navigate through my large document. Not only did it only come up with one of many headers there is no way to add your own headers. I was hoping I could use this as a sort of bookmark and jump to certain places of my desire, but it appears, even if this worked properly I would not have been able to do this. I think this is a great idea but could be vastly improved. It appears it's only set up for outlining documents, but it would be great if you could use it in regular documents also.
