Tiller is an app that I frequently reference when talking about well-built user experiences. It has a core function, syncing a sheet with your financial data, and a bunch of additional helpers on top. You choose what you do and how you do it. My last year and a half has been some of the most financially enlightening of my life, and even after purchasing an investment property last year my 2018 taxes were a relative breeze.

Extraordinary piece of software, extraordinarily helpful. Perfect. With the data, which is truly easy to gather (because they use the Yodlee data aggregation tool) you can do anything you want. The daily email update is very convenient. I strongly recommend this to anyone who wants the freedom to do with the data what they want, using the incredibly powerful Google Sheets software, and who wants to avoid the straitjacket and obtrusive advertising of something like Mint.

Tiller is an amazing tool for those that want a combo of automation and hands-on budgeting and want the flexibility of spreadsheets. I could never get into YNAB - too much time to learn their rigid system and use their software. Tiller is the best of both worlds!

I just want to be able to import transactions. Supposedly Tiller does that, although they can't tell you whether or not your bank is supported until after you pay for a year. But even if it does work, it's not a separate function. You have to use their financial templates. I can't believe no one has made a simple add-on to import bank transactions...

This is nonsense. I could tell whether my bank was supported immediately, during the trial period. What is more, the bank support extends to foreign banks. You absolutely do NOT have to use their financial templates. They have a vanilla spreadsheet that only displays what the banks have transmitted. I can't believe how ignorant this review is.

It worked great for a while, but now I am getting an error "AutoCat TypeError: Cannot call method "copy" of null." I have tried to delete and reinstall the add-on but same issue. I guess I will reach out to support

The Data Validation on the Categories column in Transactions was somehow removed, when it was set back in place the AutoCat issue was resolved.

Tried to use it, got this error message: "Account column in Transactions sheet is missing"

If you have an Account Name column in your Transactions sheet, all you would need to do is rename the column header to Account and AutoCat will install. (Or simply add a column named Account.) You will get the same Account information, but you can also rename the Account from your Tiller console at with the Account column.

AutoCat is AMAZING. The key value prop for me buying Tiller was time savings. I tried many budget tools but ultimately drifted back to spreadsheet for flexibility and power. My cost was time of copy/pasting transactional data. Tiller solved that, which is why I pay for the service. Now with AutoCat my time savings value is exponentially greater!!! I can AutoCat 80% of my transactions w/ 50 simple rules (diminishing returns to go further). Simple. Effective. Keep up the great work.
