It is free, you don't need to pay anything for it

Way too intrusive. This takes up 30% of the screen. Writing tools should stay out of your way and let you write. (It says it only works when the sidebar is open.)

Now it says "Your WPM will only be tracked when the sidebar is open." so my guess is that it tracks words when it isn't open?

Unfortunately this is a limitation of the way google add-ons work. I would love to be able to hide it, but am unable to do so.

I use this to keep track of how much I write in a given day. Extremely useful! Yes, there are features I would like to see. Yes, cutting and pasting throws off statistics. Yes, it's not perfect. However, it's a VAST improvement over the tools available natively in Google Docs for word tracking. Besides, it's free.

You have to sign up for a "free" account, no thanks, i mean just work without it, i don't go to another website to get a key for another one. They should have an option where you don't have to and it doesn't save but lets you know when your using it.

Unfortunately there is no good way to store and display the stats in Google Docs without the additional website. Sorry to hear it didn't work out for you.

A really useful tool, only let down by there being no way to tell it to ignore blocks of cut and pasted text or documents edited using mobile devices which ruin your daily stats. If you want to track your total WC and WPM then this is great, but if like me you work on a desktop and tablet/phone it may not be so useful.
