HOW TO USE DATA MERGE:
 1. Create a template in Google Docs or Sheets.  
 2. Place markers or variables in double curly brackets {{first_name}}. 
 3. Create your data source in Google Sheets.
(Optional: Import contacts from Google Contacts. Click on Add-ons >> Wizy Mail Merge & Doc Merge with Attachments >> Import Contacts)
 4. Click on Add-ons>>Data Merge>>Start
 5. Select “Document Merge” or “Mail Merge,” or both
 6. For Document Merge, select your template and the destination folder. 
 7. To send an email, select Mail Merge.
 8. Create or select an email template from the library.
 9. Select “Convert generated documents to PDF” if you need to mail merge into a PDF file.
 10. Click on the Tags Mapping tab and verify that all your tags have the green check.
 11. Set filter to mail merge only certain rows of the spreadsheet.
 12. Click the Generate button and select your mail merge scheduling options. 
 13. Notice the columns with green headers getting filled with mail merge data including the URL of the generated documents.

Hi Nick, are you using formulas on your spreadsheet? Wizy Doc and Mail Merge will generate a document for every line indicated in your formula. Here is a tip to generate the doc you want on Form Submit using arrayFormula: https://goo.gl/sxUFzp You can also set up filters from the settings menu to generate documents for certain rows and not for others: https://goo.gl/FhgCBu

Very helpful! However, is there a way to have multiple records (data rows from your google sheet) on one page of the template?

I agree with Jessy in that GSM Mail Merge is free and no limitations. Which is fine is you are just looking for a basic mail merge product. However, if you want to do mail merge with some cool features you can’t get better than Wizy Doc and Mail Merge. It’s got GForm integration, email scheduling and tracking. Personalised documents can be generated and emailed individually as pdf attachments. It’s easy and intuitive to use. I find it better than the rest. Highly recommended.

I just tested this app after being familiar with autoCrat and Yet Another Mail Merge. In this early test, this app works pretty smoothly and is conveniently equipped with combined features of mail merge and document merge (just as the name suggests). Over the course of the test, I did not experience any quota limitation surprise that one often encounters in those so-called free apps and that is yet another encouraging aspect. Unlike Yet Another Mail Merge (YAMM), it even offers its own email template editor, which helps in a way that one does not have to switch from the app to his/her Gmail editor in order to create the email template, but it can be done right within the app. The only two things I can mention as being weaker right now are: - the compilation of the documents seems a bit slow (comparing to autoCrat, for example). It seems as having 2-3 passes for a single row of the spreadsheet. - The automatic document title accepts only one tag, while I would like to see the ability to work with more than one tag for the document title, because it is convenient. For example, to have the current date plus target user name and any other distinguishing label (that is conveniently offered in autoCrat). I hope Wizy will retain the attractive features of the app and not corrupt the stability in the future releases. Thanks Wizy and keep up a good work!

I totally agree that it's inconvenient to be limited to a single tag for the document titles. Small tweak and I'm all set. Currently using autoCrat instead.

I hit the quota. I had 21 rows in my spreadsheet and was bringing over 9 columns. It counted all my "fails" I guess because by the time I finally got it right, I hit the quota. Maybe I can try again tomorrow to finish what I started! I have to say, I love this though. I had been looking for a tool like this last year and gave up. I'm happy to have found it.

Me again. The speed is actually related to the number of columns. The tool is processing each row one after the other, while it might seem a bit slower, it actually allows us a better reliability of the tool. Concerning the automatic document title, you can also use a custom column to create a doc title of your own. Just make sure the switch on the bottom is set as "Off". Email if needed.

Miroslav, we are glad to hear that you like our add-on!! Rest assured that reliability is our main focus, we have a lot of businesses that rely on us to create their mail merge or documents. By the way we released some minor improvements recently including the support of new characters in tags and multi-language. Point taken for the 2 improvements suggestions. I'll come back to you with new announcement in the coming days.
